The objective is to make Iran as offensively and defensively ineffective as Syria now is while Israel still has enough political support for it here in the US. They might not get another shot at it.

They aren’t getting that much oil from Iran. I think they get 10% of the oil they need from Iran but Iran sells them 90% of their output.
