UPS is Smart with this plan. They get rid of as many of the old guys who know what they’re doing and know the contract.
When I started, it was a lot of those old dogs who passed on knowledge those old dogs won’t be around anymore to pass it on because they’re gonna take their money and leave.
That could severely weaken the next generation.
Either way I firmly believe this generation’s time to stand up is coming quick. Will they stay together?
That’s how I learned, if you looked like you were gonna stick, the old timers started to school you. Especially if you were gonna cover there route when they were on vacation. Lol. But that’s the way it was. It took at least a couple of years of working like you meant it before the senior drivers even acknowledged that you existed.
And you can never work for UPS again. Sounds like UPS is following the Amazon model, only paying a little more while dangling the un achievable goal of a pension. Most won’t even last to qualify for benefits before they bail. They will definitely weaken the union since the younger the new hires are, the stupider they will be. Their problem will be the labor pool. Although, with our current education system, a steady supply of easily fooled idiots may bail them out. Still, lower membership in the union, along with lower dues will hurt. Not to mention pension contributions.
They’ve dumbed the job so much most any halfwit with a little want to can do it. If not keep the door revolving

That’s true to a point, but UPS as a company cannot help themselves with harassment and micromanagement. Without union wages and benefits I don’t think anyone would work for this company Long.
No one wants to work hard. Even though the benefits, pay and retirement are excellent. They’re too stoned, still living at home or they want to be influencers on the internet. The millennials, most of them, are the last generation with any real ambition. Unfortunately, we had 4 years of horrible democrat policies that has discouraged them, especially when it comes to interest rates and home prices.
