I feel like it's just bullshit. I remember my first few years there used to be union rallies all the time outside of guard shack. Just regularly. Now.... Never. They don't care... The locker where the grievance forms are was empty all week. Couldn't even file. Had to track down Stewards. Nobody gives a fuck right now.

I want you to know that 95 out of 100 times we have a parking lot rally it was organized by a rank and file member in our building not by a union official. Most of the papers you've been handed I printed on my home printer with my own money. If you want to have a rally you can call one and I will help you. Is there a specific issue that you would like to address? WE are the union and we will get out of it what we put into it.

It goes both ways. Leadership needs to come to the building more and hold rallies. If even just to talk about the current state of affairs and nothing else. If I was a new hire I'd have no single fucks given about a union because I never see it. When I was new the Union was a lot more present.
Now.. You maybe see a dude in a suit with a Teamsters pin on his jacket just standing around bullshitting with drivers once every few months and that's it.
Most meetings you can skip but not when important issues like this are being discussed.
They only have 9 meetings a year.
