He was miserable. Nothing wrong with staying, but once you smell freedom and think it is yours, hard to stay.

I think there was a decent chance he'd leave anyway. The money's nice, but if 50K is gonna make or break your retirement, you really shouldn't be retiring.

Realistically, it would have to have been in the contract as not being allowed for it to be illegal. That is the standard now.
