Then they flew operation management in from all over the country. Rental trucks, rental cars, meals, hotel rooms, the works. UPS spent $7M extra in my building that year. Division Manager gets fired? Hell no. "Lateral move", he gets transferred somewhere else to screw up another operation.

Most of my route was big businesses that didn't give their own employees squat so of course delivery drivers seldom got anything either. I definitely got more from the small businesses and regular customers.

My best year I made $2500 in cash and tons of booze and gift cards. It was a total business route. I never left that business park all day. I had been on that run for close to 10 years. There were a couple guys who made bank in my old center. One guy use to get around $5000 a year in cash.

I wonder if he knows the VA or the VFW or Am. Legion might be able to help him. You would be surprised to know how many older vets were never informed of all that they qualified for. Now days when you get out of the military they take you by the hand and lead you right down to the Veterans Service Office and sign you up for everything.
