Unfortunately Ive seen this happen to several drivers in my career.

Actually, alcoholism runs in my family. I have three siblings who are highly functioning alcoholics. And one who quit alcohol in his 20s when he found God. I was always too scared of what could happen to push it.

My father was warned but he was in denial about it. He told me how bad he was but didn't want me to tell the rest of the family. He told me his doctor said to see him in 6 months to see how much time he had left. What his doctor really told him was he might last 6 months if he took care of himself. He was dead in 3.

I work with a guy who comes in every single day smelling like an ashtray and alcohol. I had to have a “confidential” call today with HR and the boss of my boss where HR asked me if anyone reported it to me or if I had smelled him myself. Apparently, from now on I’m supposed to report it to my boss if I smell him again. I’m just wondering at what point does it become harassment if he’s tested every day? Today was the second time He’s already been to rehab for his drinking.
