You got 2 more years at this current lower tax rate.

Maybe some small RITH conversions?

Or take a little more out if your 401k right now and reduce your RMD later?

Thanks, Dave

I have been taking out pretty big chunks from my IRA the past couple of years as distributions to spread out the tax hit. I just started taking social security so it will be getting worse. After the big jump from 12% to 22% tax brackets you have a long way to get to 24%.

No right answer I guess

But seriously that's why I like the Treasury direct account.

No state taxes and they withhold federal for me. You.can elect up.ti 50%

I started moving some of my money from growth funds to tax exempt and tax managed funds. They don't make as much but a nice hedge. I also just started putting money into 3 month Vanguard brokered CD's. I plan to do that every month so I will having one of them mature every month so I will be able to access that cash penalty free if I need any.

When I take a distribution I have to guess how much tax I will be owing and prepay some. If I don't I will owe a penalty. I underestimated a bit last year and had to pay a penalty of $17

You could build a treasury ladder the same way, probably with slightly higher rates.

Right now every time ine comes dur it roll it over and add a little bit to it

If I need the money I just won't renew it

Im also letting my fixed annuities build up. Probably will start taking the interest next spring.

Another nice feature about the is I can take out 10% penalty free if need be.

Im juat trying to fill.the gap before I am old enough ti quality fir social security.

I supposedly got my first social security payment today but it was deposited into my bank 2 days ago. The way they pay is weird. They pay a month behind and split into 2nd, 3rd, or 4th Wednesday depending on birthdates.

A lot of people don't understand that.

I was trying to explain that to my father in law.

I told him he will get his wife's check this month. Because its technically lasts months check.

But she will not get one next month even though she died on the third.

Got some beautiful candy onions from the farm and some. Ice fresh corn too.

Corn fresh from the ice…And WTF is a business steak?

They did take last month's Medicare payment directly out of this payment instead of from my bank account. Which does make since it was last month's check. It usually gets paid around the 22nd of the month.
