The lowest seniority driver in my loop always took an 8 hour every Friday he could. He tried to be sly about it always have a fresh excuse or lie but after his grandfather died for the 4th time it got kind of old. So the other more senior drivers stated doing it just to screw with him. He really didn't like it when the shoe was on the other foot.
Why does he need a reason? We get 2 per month why not use them whenever you feel like it

This guy was a real dick and would always screw anyone else if he could.

You don't need a reason but he would make up excuses anyway. And he would wait until the last minute to put in his request as if every other driver didn't already know he was going to do it.

After 3.... you can’t exercise your seniority to get them. But technically.... if no one is requesting them, you could get one everyday.

Interesting. There's no restrictions on when we can use ours. Sometimes I'll do the last 2 days of the month and the first 2 of the new month to get 4 in a row. Le gendary style.

Yeah I've heard that. We don't have that here. We just file and get paid plus get the g8 back for future use.
But they do a pretty good job of making sure we get it. That rarely ever happens.

No penalty pay here but if you are over dispatched you can bring your truck back with all those missed pieces. Often ends up a mad scramble in the afternoon when they "suddenly" realize it.

The dumbest provision in our contract is the national language that says the company can pay you two hours of penalty pay if you go over your eight hour day. I’m sorry I didn’t ask for extra pay. I asked for my eight hours you can keep your measly two hours that wouldn’t replace making it to your kids game, or even sitting on the couch eating Cheetos, which is what I plan on doing tonight thank God for the central language.
