Back in high school my buddy had a Chevrolet Chevette that was a four speed manual transmission. The actual shifter broke off and left a little metal nub he put on a cowhide glove and shifted with it lol.

My son was born in 88, so he had a normal childhood. The internet was a novelty for him. I call his age group, 34-39, hybrids. They had lots of outside play before the tech revolution. I think they are probably the most successful and dangerous group.
