Today's highlights;
around 2:45 pm, as I was traveling straight ahead in heavy traffic, another vehicle which was in a parking spot decided to merge into traffic without waiting for a space to open up.
I was hit in my right rear tire and wheel, also with some scratch marks along my fender flare.
I pulled over, had some trouble locating my paperwork, I really need to clean up the glovebox.
Anyway, the other driver , some female who claimed to be in the vehicle, came up to me and screamed that I was destroying evidence because I was brushing away dust that the impact deposited on my vehicle. We got into a shouting match when I tried to explain the proper way to handle the paperwork. WE are in a NO Fault State.
She claimed that I had to wait for the police to arrive before getting any of their paperwork.
That is not the way it works; both vehicles exchange their paperwork and go about their merry ways.
But these people insisted that only the police could see their paperwork.
I told them that I was going to leave, mention in my reports that they refused to provided their paperwork and I was going to write them up as a hit & run.
They kept insisting that they only spoke Spanish, but in perfectly clear English they repeatedly said that " we called the police ", "we are waiting for the police ", " you have to wait for the police ". When the MSP Trooper arrived at the collision, you guessed it. They claimed to only speak their native tongue.
The striking vehicle is going to need a new front bumper assembly, maybe some hood work, too. They admitted to the MSP Trooper that they did pull away from a parked position hitting my vehicle.
