The job is so much easier now, there is no comparison.
Lol, trucks were just as jammed, drivers got 8-10 hours of overtime most of the year. You had to figure out which way to run the route, often by looking at a map!
We started earlier, 8-8:15 am, which made it seem as not at much.
You also did not have edd, no driver release, cash cod's, check cod's, you needed to know route area codes, paper sheets, paper time cards, cod turn in forms, cod stubs, tally up daily cash, vouchers, file paper sheets and copies, residential: you often made 3 trips to doors for signature for one stop. tally up all pick ups, stops and pieces by area code.
I forgot about the COD’s. I get so few of them now it’s crazy. I used to run routes where I would have half a dozen at four or five stops every day.. what a nightmare I don’t miss that
Used to run one in the ghetto and there was like four hair salons that got COD‘s every day and it was all cash. These people were paying thousands of dollars for their weaves lol. Living in the ghetto, you gotta have your priorities I guess.
