Heated lunch box

Yes, @johney is correct. You can't leave that stuff at room temp, it'll get you eventually.
I typically hear a thermos with boiling water, then add my hot leftovers. It's still above the bacteria growth temp when I go to eat it at 2 or so.
Cool idea, not sure how practical the lunch box is as a standalone.

What do you mean hot leftovers are you cooking lunch in the morning before you go to work or nuking something leftover from dinner? What kind of stuff are you putting in a thermos other than soup? The tikka masala wouldn't work in there cause half the food would stay in the container stuck to the sides, right?

There is a name brand luncheaze. My wife got me a knock off from Walmart for $100 which is about half the cost of the name brand.

Yeah I hear it up in the morning and add it to the prewarmed thermos. Today was like a beef casserole we had two nights ago. I'll do soups in there (when it's cooler) or spaghetti, meatloaf n mashed potatoes. Whatever.

Do any of you guys bring one to work? Not many options for lunch on my new route so wife got me one and I tried it out for the first time today. I scooped one of the prepared meals from Trader Joe's into there before I left home. Cajun style chicken fettuccine Alfredo. Everything seemed to go fine but I'm a little concerned about leaving chicken at room temperature on the shelf of the package car for 5 hours until I'm ready to heat it up & eat lunch. If any of you use a lunch box like this do you have suggestions on what kind of prepared meals are good to put in them?

The chicken is already cooked, youre just reheating it, you're fine. If it were raw and your lunchbox was actually cooking it, you should be worried. Maybe you can remove the container and keep it in your cooler until you're ready to heat it? But that would just be to make you feel better, you're perfectly safe doing it as you did.

You're wrong bro. Prepared food can not be left out at room temp for more than two hours or you risk food poisoning.

Oh, well as long as a government agency told you so....

I am not going to eat a big bite for lunch. I have some modicum of self respect.

Of course I use the fridge, but you'd (clearly) be surprised to know most foods are still fine to eat if left out overnight. The life of your leftovers would obviously be shortened significantly, but most foods would still be edible. Its not the bacteria, but the amount of bacteria. If your food is bad within a few hours, it was tainted to begin with.

Youre probably the guy that holds up the whole entrance to the store while wiping down your shopping cart handle.

Why use a fridge? Clearly you're not worried about food spoilage. I guess to keep your beer cold. No I don't wipe down the carts I'm not remotely close to that paranoid if at all. Just not stupid with food. I assure you I know all about food safety from my better half....that's part of her($125,000 a year)job. You can eat as you will and I hope in your mind you're right and don't ever get sick, but if you do......all I'll say is I told you so.

Wrapped in tinfoil on the 9000 shelf may be more effective
