Yes and no. Imagine all the little machine shops making gizmos for that thing. It's not all made in house at NASA. They're all making money. I had a small family run machine shop on my first bid package run. They made the clutch assembly for the M-1 Abraham's tank.

I’ve read that with the % of our spending the same, if all US taxes were $100 then nasa gets about 50 cents
Meanwhile $10 of the $100 would go to just paying the interest on our debt
