Well if I had a choice of him or Upstate, I’d have to give @jkloc a call.

Ugh, trying to figure out social security.
Is it dumb to put off collecting it after you retire in order to get a bigger monthly payment?
It doesn't seem to go up all that much. If you put it off a year to get $218 more per month, you LOSE 1 year of say $2800/month.
So you lose almost $34000 to gain $218/month.
It would take 13 years to make that back.
Amiright???

I've thought this before about people working forever to get a bigger pension. They'll never make back the pension money they could have had all those years they waited.

You looked at it the way I did. You have to think about your longevity, your family history..etc. hold out til you are 70 and let the government keep it. No fricking way. Then think about the people who paid all their lives, died young, and never got a dime. Plus right now, 12, 000 (for a couple) of it is tax free, and may not be in a few yrs. Take it and run!

If you do put off collecting, start a HSA while you are still working. You can pay medicare premiums using the tax free hsa funds.

She has been retired for awhile and UPS doesn't offer a HSA
