She has been retired for awhile and UPS doesn't offer a HSA

nice try though...

If you are still working at UPS why would you need to pay Medicare premiums?

You don't have to

I have never qualified for an HSA and I don’t believe most of us here working or not will either. The High deductible/ out of pocket expenses Health Plan requirement kills it for most of us it seemed. It’s been a year or so since I have checked so maybe I will put this in the to/do homework pile.

I don’t think your employer needs to provide the plan, you can do it on your own even if retired.

You are correct though.

I thought we were talking about someone at age 65?

If you are still working at ups past age 65 I feel sorry for you. Lol, why?

Perhaps not

Your thinking is flawed

FINALLY, got approved for Social Security.

Took well over the 30 days they estimated. May have something to do with the extra $150k.

I was getting nervous....

They always take a long time. I was approved a couple of weeks after I was starting payments but since those are a month behind it didn't matter.

I kind of had conditional approval where they said all the paperwork looked good but it was sitting on some guys desk for the final approval.

Expect the Medicare Advantage and Supplement plans to get worse every year also.

IRMAA

Something to plan for as you get closer to the two year before 65 income.

You local doesn't cover that?

The local has nothing to do with it after you turn 65 and have to switch to Medicare.

Even before that my local still had the UPS/Aetna insurance instead of Teamcare.

Not much you can do, especially if you have income coming in from various sources.
