The UPS Teamsters Strike Fund

I highly doubt part timers will get $1000 a week during a strike. I'm skeptical full timers will.

It was a resolution at the 31st IBT Convention in Las Vegas in June.

My local has received these enhanced benefits twice for three different companies since 2023 and was approved for two other strikes that never materialized.

It's real.

The math doesn't add up. They would have no money after a week.

You say they are going to pay all part time employee's $1000 a week during a strike? I find that extremely hard to believe. That's probably more than most make in a month working.

It would deplete the fund very quickly, but would take more than a week.

Remember, UPS has gotten considerably smaller since 2023.

Then the $500 a week ($2,000 a month) and free healthcare would still be attractive,....if what you say is true?

I'm not saying it's not possible, just very hard to believe. Like @gumby said the Teamsters couldn't support that for long and the company would know that.

The Company has a whole lot to lose and aren't prepared for the long game either, where everyone loses.

It's a game of chicken that is usually decided quickly.

In 97 we walked for $55 a week(which few or none got myself included)I highly doubt that would happen today and my guess is the minute the funds run dry people will cross the line in drones. It should be interesting either way.

You had to wait 8 days to receive a penny back then as well, btw. (I was there too)

Much different times and much different leadership with the time and inclination to prep the membership for such an endeavor;

....with a much larger strike fund.

We shall see what happens when it happens I guess.

Funny enough those are the exact same things I remember were said in 1997. As August 1 grew closer peoples resolve became stronger. I did get the $55. I also paid Union dues out of it so it wasn’t $55 never had a thought in my head to cross the picket line and we had less than a dozen people Cross out of a little over 1000 people at that time.

Im just saying
A thousand a week times 300,000 is 300 million. The company would love to see the union run out of money

Yes, we’ll lose millions and they’ll lose billions. The difference is strike fund is meant to be used. we are not a for-profit organization.

Yes, but that would take every employee doing what was required of them to receive that money. No way are they getting 100% to comply. If I remember in 97 we had maybe 50% of our buildings employees do time on the line.

No doubt attendance will be an issue just like any normal day ups LOL
