Exactly, doing Roth and after tax contributions.
Why the after tax?
Why the after tax?
Taxes only going up, if you pay taxes now, when you retire, you won’t pay taxes on withdrawals from 401 k. So I’ve read anyways, after a certain amount of time, I don’t remember off the top of my head, I need to look it up

The after tax was designed so you could put more money into your 401 k over the annual limit. The earnings go in tax, deferred so you will pay taxes on them. You're not getting any break by putting into the after.Tax, put it into the ROTH.
Top rate full time
Nice @badideaguy will be jealous.
Investing Early and regularly is the important thing.

Going on 6, feeder. Was sleeper team for first 4 years
I started putting in some to the after tax around 25 years ago. Looked at it again and stopped then put it in with my regular 401k deferral. Roth for the 401k didn’t start till around 2008(?)

I was thinking that might be true also. A lot personal variables though. Sleeper(which he is no longer) would definitely put him up near that top bracket with out the regular 401k deduction. Hell now-a days some package get close to it.

Pre tax also affects your SS. Let’s say you make $150k, max out 401k with $35k (with catch up), SS taxable wages only $115k. Only lol

Take home with all my deductions and taxes is 54% of gross pay. Works for me for now

That is 100% incorrect

Your taxable wages will be 115k. Social Security wages in box 3 were always my gross income(150k in your example). Your 401k deductions have nothing to do with Social Security.
