She might have to go from part time to full time.
You will have to make sammiches for her

One of the guys who took the last buyout with my dad blew his 50K already.
New pontoon last year, and concerts.
Woo!!
You will have to make sammiches for her
I try to time when I go to the gym, errands, to be not home when my wife comes out of her office for lunch. Usually around noon. Sorry, but her meals are too complicated, salads with chopped chicken breast, this and that, etc.
She calls me out in it too. Lol
We were talking about those ready to retire anyway. They have enough time in to get full retirement healthcare and pension.
Trust me, once you leave UPS, you ain't going back!
Wouldn’t it have been awesome if they had actually offered it just to those people? They’re not even going by seniority order in locals. That should be enough to tell you there’s something wrong here.

They want to gwt rid of the 'trouble makers" first?

It definitely would be be foolish to leave unless you were close to retirement. You better have a solid plan b in place with the same pay, full insurance and pension.

We actually had two lower seniority guys apply for it.
I don’t know why the union doesn’t use it to maybe bargain for something, ok we’ll give you the buyout but we want double time for over 9.5 hours worked.
That’s an interesting idea and if the company would make a phone call, I’m certain those talk could happen, but unfortunately, they don’t want to do that.
Although there is the issue that I have a large number of people already getting quadruple time for their 9.5

There are many other things that members would be open to, but the union hasn’t evolved to that and probably never will.

Like what? I think the members got more of what they asked for in this contract than any other contract since I’ve been here.
And the point on these buyouts is moot since the company is unwilling to negotiate anyway. Again, this is their fault not the union.
If you would’ve told me about four years ago that the company would agree to pay over $160 + an hour and anyone would ever get that I would’ve laughed. This dumb Union is so behind the times lol
I don’t know I can’t think right now, maybe open up the transfer options to drivers outside of local , yes, that will be complicated. The whole air-conditioning scam is embarrassing.
The West has transfers and I agree with you that would be nice and I hate article 40 with a passion.
I certainly understand not wanting transfers, though, because there would be just as many pissed off members who had someone transfer dovetailing that had more seniority than them bumping them down the list.
Again, I don’t know what that has to do with these buyouts. Nobody said the Union’s perfect. The idea here is though collectively bargaining for anything is always smarter than trying to do it by yourself.
If anything this 9.5 issue has shown me we didn’t ask for enough penalty because it’s still cheaper for them to pay us this money then to hire people.
I wonder what kind of buyout we could get if we collectively tried to get them for the top people. as well as demanding some sort of guarantees that help the people left behind? 🤔

Wally argued for that language many the contract now. Automatic bonus pay over 9.5, no grievance necessary.
Man, that would make my job easier I’m all for it!

Some buildings need drivers and some don’t. It just seems like you wanna argue about shit We have no control over. And this forum is aggravating, it’s like it was made in the 80s. It’s very hard to communicate on here.
