I have heard of some new cars delivered with a/c and seen some on reddit and stuff but I've never heard of an existing package car being retrofitted with a/c yet
I could be wrong, but didn't the contract say any new package cars purchased would have a/c? I don't remember hearing about them retrofitting any. I laughed because my old building had just bought tons of new package cars before I left so they weren't getting new ones for years.
TDU only wrote that article to help out Sean in the election. They know lots of people are upset because they think that Sean limited UPS to 7,500 offers instead of 10k or even 30k( lots of feeder drivers are mad). TDU can't afford to have Fearless win the election so they are protecting their investment and bottom line (as always). I haven't read the article but I'm sure it explains that UPS actually added more people to the buyout because the IBT told them this is the last one till negotiations. Then I'm sure it explains that they had to also agree that they would still add all the jobs that were negotiated.
The wording in the Separation Contract hasnt changed.
I've seen many Teamster posts saying how "strong" the agreement is. Man, they use the word "strong" every freakin post!
Have they dropped the arbitration against the last buyout? That would be significant for this agreement.
The only change I've seen is the buyout being "capped" (their word) to 7,500 drivers versus the 10,000 UPS wanted. AND they have an agreement that UPS wont offer any more buyouts during this contract.

It was actually quite strong at least what UPS agreed to
The wording in your signed contract no longer is valid because the union has agreed and the company has negotiated.
The company also agreed to create thousands of new jobs and no longer drag their feet like they were.
If you were approved, that money is safely yours now. Those that may not have received the buyout erroneously because seniority was not followed, can file grievances and go through the grievance procedure unlike they were going to be able to previously.
That is actually strong. Because before that you had nothing.
You’re thinking of the first one which indeed very few people took. Even UPS was disappointed in the participation. I never once heard anyone say this 150k “nobody was going for it”. Quite the contrary.
The FB pages were throwing the 7500 number out there are a win for the union. Comments were saying no one was going for the deal, although you always have to take those with a grain of salt.
It was a tremendous deal for anyone with enough credits for full retirement.
I can't help but wonder if the numbers were so big, the union was worried about income (dues) being greatly reduced, so they made a deal with the company blocking guys like @gumby from the deal.

Of course, they would never acknowledge that.
Again, I don’t believe the union would’ve blocked anybody if it’s going by seniority.
According to what I’m hearing in his local, they may not have followed seniority therefore he can file a grievance and should.
In regards to union dues really doesn’t have much effect on anything 7500 people is a lot of people, but it’s not the end of the world.
This really was about exactly what the union said it was about the company is not allowed to direct deal with members. Allowing that would’ve said a dangerous precedent moving forward. Not to mention it actually did violate labor law and UPS was certainly on the hook for an NLRB lawsuit.

And this brings up a huge issue, which they HAVE to have anticipated.
What happens if these men win that grievance? Do less senior people who have been approved for the buyout now get "bumped" from it? Remember, that clause is still in there, which basically says "If anything fucks this up, we get that 150k back from you".
Or does UPS give grievance winners the buyout, bringing the total closer to the 10,000 UPS wanted in the first place? Except, the union has that number "capped" at 7,500...

I don’t really do much social media or really any other than here so I don’t know what those people are saying, but most of them are idiots. In my local there was close to 200 people that signed up lol most of them were denied just now found out there’s a couple of people that want to deny it but I’m not even sure if they can I guess leaving UPS wasn’t as great an idea as some of them thought.

Yes, it did say that and I have heard about them supposedly retrofitting although I have seen none.
The company was Smart before the contract because they bought thousands and thousands of new vehicles, ensuring that they would not have have to be buying new vehicle vehicles for at least a decade or more

Very few trucks will get retrofitted. Most that need it will end up being replaced before that happens.
... cue the rookies whining about their split car not having a/c

The snowflake drivers will survive, they have their stupid energy drinks and $6 Starbucks coffee!

That would help current teamsters from getting laid off. Much simpler to let the workforce self remove.

Capped:
Wallation: Teamster leadership stopping, making unavailable, blocking, those union members that wish to voluntarily receive $150,000 by removing themselves from employment with UPS, for whatever reason.

They’re always more than welcome to voluntarily remove themselves from employment.
Are they? What proof do you have of that? Do you know who was going to get this before or who is going to get them after the agreement was made? With all this certainty on your side, we’re gonna need you to hand over that evidence so we can comb through it.I don’t know how you have this information when nobody else I know does but I appreciate your valuable accurate information.
I was unaware that the union was the one giving them out. If there’s a seniority issue a grievance should be filed and it sounds like in certain places that is happening.
If the company isn’t giving very many buyouts in a certain location, according to the agreement, that is acceptable.
As I said, I know of several people who do not want the buyout now I do not know if they can get out of it, but it seems like they should be able to. So will UPS give those to the next person in line?
Or perhaps you’re just being a drama queen as usual?
