I’m still pretty happy. Any driver who chose not to take it and then decided they wanted to retire could just work to the end of the year. And pretty much make the same. Plus another pension credit year.

Had some under Eight year guys pretty upset which I thought was hilarious. Most of the high seniority people here didn’t really say much and pretty much figured that if they didn’t get the buyout, they would just work till the end of the year and then retire or at least consider it.. This company is not stupid. They did not give a windfall. They actually saved money by not letting these people work to the end of the year if you include pension and insurance.

The unhappy low seniority guys were pretending they were going to take this money and start a new life maybe open a business or go back to school.
The truth is, they would’ve played video games and smoked pot until the money ran out and realized what idiots they were.
You are not going to find a job like this most likely not even if you have an education . And if you truly leave that unhappy, go ahead and quit.
Factory down the road is hiring for $18/hr 12 hour shifts. These guys have to miss their kids baseball games too.

But I thought it was just UPS drivers? I think it’s funny most of these guys that complain about things like that. Think every other blue-collar job isn’t similar, except less than half almost no benefits no pension and no say on your workplace..
I wish those guys who took the buyout early in their career luck. The law of averages tells me they’re not gonna be better off. They’re just gonna make less money.

I’ve been on my route a long time so I’ve seen a lot, and I used to get a little bit jealous when I would see families early in the evening at barbecuing during the week enjoying their families while I was still working. Through the years, though I’ve seen a lot of of those people’s houses get foreclosed on or need to sell it because they couldn’t afford it anymore because of the job loss or medical expenses.
I’ve never had to worry about anything like that. I’m probably making $160 an hour on quadruple time when they’re barbecuing. The grass isn’t always greener on the other side.
