Buyout

What truth would that be in the middle?

That the company can violate the contract and nlra everywhere but the central if they want to because the national language is toothless and the nlrb is gutted

That the company can violate the contract and nlra everywhere but the central if they want to because the national language is toothless and the nlrb is gutted

That perhaps is closer to the truth. But the national still hasn’t even been decided yet that happens in May. The central is in fact stronger because it has the hammer and the ability to strike.

Counters the union allegations of the company admitting anything.

The truth is, they haven’t talked to any locals.

The truth is the company knew when they gave these offers out that they were in violation. That’s why they put the provision in the unauthorized contracts They had employee sign that they would have to pay this money back if and when the company was found in violation, legally or contractually, putting all the burden on the person who signed this paper and none of the burden on the company for offering them illegally. Pretty neat trick by the company.

The truth is the company never plan to give them out based solely on seniority.

The truth is, there’s no continuing discussions because there was no discussion. The company was doing what they wanted..

Just imagine a strike over giving someone near retirement age an extra $150,000 to leave a wee bit earlier.

That should go over well with the public.

I predict that nobody in any region gets this supposed buyout when it's all said and done, while the Company laughs and makes the Union the heavy.

Mission accomplished.

Yep, their plan is already working. Trust me.

Just imagine if somebody dug a little deeper and realized what was contained in an offer like this that people signed.

There’s no lawyer in the world that would tell you to sign an agreement like that.

Taking every bit of liability away from the company and putting it all on the person signing agreement.

I’m sure you spent most of your career telling people there’s no reason to file grievances right @wally ? After all, we should just let the company do whatever they want even if it’s violating the agreement they signed.

Explain to me why I give a rip with the public thinks?

Clearly, the company doesn’t care what the public thinks wouldn’t it be a public relations nightmare to demand $150,000 back months later from people that probably already spent it simple because they put a unconscionable clause in a contract?

Just imagine letting the precedent be that the company can violate the contract "as long as they're being nice".

Just imagine letting the precedent be that the company can violate the contract "as long as they're being nice".

Yeah, exactly. Why shouldn’t the company just come to the members individually and offer them whatever they want?

Maybe the company offers them a 401(k) match in lieu of their pension and as long as the person signs it why not?

Maybe the company offers a seven dollar an hour raise for them too stop paying their benefits weekly.

Imagine what the public would think if the union told people they couldn’t take a seven dollar an hour raise..

Just idiotic logic.

Most of the public would give away their left nut to have what we have but the people we work with don’t appreciate it or even understand why we have it.

Good luck if a strike happens and that is your defense.

Yep, with people like you, there will be no Union.

Congratulations I guess you got yours so all good.

Maybe that's the whole plan. It would definitely cause a riff between members and members with the union. Maybe Carol isn't as dumb as we all think she is. I mean although unlikely, but possible...what if they break the Teamsters? Imagine the millions they would save.

It may not have been the original plan, but I think they’re adjusting this plan as they go and enjoying this so I think you’re onto something.

What Would Dave Do?

Another fun fact is where is the guarantee from the company that any laid off person currently laid off is going to be brought back after these buyouts? Yeah that’s right there isn’t any guarantee because there was no negotiating any of this.

Offer people a little bit of money and they seem to forget what a collective bargaining agreement is all about

Collectively, you get a better offer individually you get screwed.

I’ve had people who took the first buyout call me and asked me if there’s anything they can do because they feel like they got screwed taking less money lol

I think it's been their plan since they allowed beards and manbuns. Gotten rid of almost all the managers who started as drivers, etc. Hardly firing people for repeat offenses(at least here). "Hey I'm you're buddy I'll take care of you, let you look and do what you want(@21savage)just help us get rid of those pesky Teamsters....oh don't worry we'll still pay you $50 an hour. Wink, wink.

But Johnny, what will the public say?

Just saying, in the court of public opinion, all everyone will see is that $150k figure. That will be the narrative.

Add to that the clip of Granny crying because the strike is delaying her medicine. You know some hack media outlet will be searching for Granny.

But Johnny, what will the public say?

Not a dam thing....just get my shit to me today.

And lets not forget I don't know how it is where you are, but I don't think there are many guys left here from the 97 strike. If any at all. You gotta wonder too how many here could really live off a strike fund with the cost of everything today? How long could they pay a strike fund?

Good luck if a strike happens and that is your defense.

I believe the defense is "this is our picket line".

No union employees are going to cross it, and your stuff isn't going to move till you abide by the contract.

Historically speaking it's worked for the teamsters nationally every time it's been used. Lol.
