I may be uninformed, but do you believe everything you read? I would trust them a tad more than I trust the company. I'd hope what's in that is all true....I'm just skeptical.

I absolutely believe they would do so.

It was 8 million? wth? Lol

Source for this?

Oops, just recall a strange phone call. Something about omerta.

Nothing to see here, move on...

No that strike fund wouldn't last forever, but lets throw this out there....what about healthcare benefits? Surely that's a huge cost. How's Mrs. Blob gonna feel when she can't take little jr. Blob to the Dr.? Well I guess UPS would continue to pay that right?

Team Care has already committed to covering those costs. They are flushed with money they can go for a very long time according to them. probably longer than strike fund would last. I have no idea how the other people who don’t use team care would do.

Again, just pointing out in 1997 we went on strike and received $55

If we were to strike now, the members would receive about 80% of their pay Moore if they have a local strike fund for many weeks.

If you can do it in 1997 with almost nothing should be easier in 2026

You're not from 710, you have no knowledge of my local.

Misinformation at its finest.

We have over 3 million dollars, and you are either making stuff up, or just trying to save face.

$3 million...oh boy.

My local has about 5 million. Remember it’s supplemental. It’s added onto the. International amount. 80% closer to 100% for those that have a local strike funding..

Only about 300 per employee, but I'd assume part timers will make up the lions share of that, so it'd stretch further.

Even if that only keeps my local going for an extra week, that's halfway to matching 1997 before we'd even need to touch the national fund.

Were the people in 1997 just built different? They walk out the door knowing they weren’t going to get paid jack and some people are worried about getting almost all of their pay if we need to strike?

How far in advance are the Teamcare premiums paid?

Here’s their phone number. Give them a call and ask.

What $55? I didn't see a dime of that and yes I did everything that was required of me.

Listen I'm with you guys all the way and would likely visit a picket line a time or two on my days off of my part time gig I just think the company would and could outlast the Teamsters. The company caved in 97 very quickly when they realized they weren't going to get the pension, which by the way took over anyhow years later.

They didn't pay anything for the first week and also took out dues for another week. So ended up being pretty much nothing.

Yes I fully believe today's workforce at UPS is nowhere near the same as 97. I think it's more a me generation. My building had very few cross and we are a right to work state. I think it'd be far different in my old building now. Unfortunately.

Nothing is exactly what I got.

That’s correct I forgot about that lol we didn’t get paid for the first week and dues were taking out the second week and then we went back to work shortly after that so I might’ve gotten $20 lol

And I still felt like we kicked their ass!!

I had already scheduled vacation on the third week so I did get my vacation pay that week. Nothing connected to the union or the strike though.

That was a rough one. Been so long I almost forgot what it was about. It didn't help Ron Carey.

Full time jobs and not letting the company take over the pension

When Ron Carey was in charge, there was no strike fund they could barely afford to pay the electric bill and the international.

If we went on strike, the international has a strike fund worth almost 400,000,000 wouldn’t last forever certainly but they definitely would be paying members quickly.

My local also has a strike fund of their own and no, there’s not a lot of people left from 1997

Got my big $50 bucks a week

Me too ,, then the local asked for it back to build the next strike fund !

Yes they did. That money wasn't even enough to cover gas and beer
