“Guys that work at the local union hall, you aren’t not seeing your kids,” he said. “You still get to go home at a decent time. I don’t have that luxury. I have to stay out there until my route’s done.”
Wrong bucko. I was asked over a decade ago if I wanted to work at the union hall I explicitly said no because I understood the time requirements and the travel would be hard on my family.
Not to mention you make less money
Your insurance is worse
Your pension gets all screwed up
They can’t find people who want to do the jobs at the Halls all across the country because of these things.
Especially the UPS employees who haven’t made the shade
Must be different here I know of at least 4 guys from my building that went to work at our local. Two were feeder drivers. All 4 were shop stewards.
That story also quoted UPS saying they would go by seniority. But later they also said it depends on staffing needs in different areas - so what happened to seniority? It also didn't say how many years that driver had in. I could see them being quiet about that in a weak attempt to protect his identity but people will quickly find out anyway.
I love when people complain to the point that they think the job owes them something. If the job is so bad, you are free to leave. This guy got his real estate license. Good luck and god bless. But instead he wants to talk about other people and what time he thinks they get “done work”. Our hear our Ba complaining he’s on his phone from 5am to 9 or 10 at night.

What most people think working at a union hall is like….
