So will every other airline go bankrupt or just raise their prices?

I don’t think it had as much to do with fuel as it did with this company is a terrible company file bankruptcy several times and the only thing that could’ve saved them was that merger that she thought was a bad idea. Not even sure that would’ve saved it though.

They also had some severe operational impacts from their Pratt & Whitney engine recalls. It may have been part of the cause of the 2024 bankruptcy . They got some compensation from P&W but it didn’t make up for the losses of grounding the planes(40-60?) from what I remember. So 1. Elizabeth Warren😀, 2. present oil prices, 3. terrible management, and 4. P&W engine impacts.

Never had a crash or fatality since the early 80’s. Pilots/Mechanics/Attendants seemed to a good job. Gate Agents and passengers not so much. Only had to fly em once late 90s.

Non-budget airlines can probably absorb it better and/or have medium to long-term fuel contracts that stabilize pricing for them.

Saw today some airline announced they’re no longer offering the free snacks on flight

I don’t believe any of the US Legacy carriers hedge fuel anymore. Wall St transaction fees for the contracts have skyrocketed. Delta does own/subsidiary their own refinery. In Philly I believe. This will help on the spread of the oil vs refined price. I don’t believe it is able to cover all their fuel usage.

Once you go business class, it's tough to go back to economy.

Once you go business class, it's tough to go back to economy.

Or actual First Class when available.

Senate Republicans push bill to authorize $400 million for White House ballroom

"A group of Senate Republicans led by Sen. Lindsey Graham (S.C.) are pushing a bill to fund the construction of a secure 90,000-square-foot ballroom at the White House and say the project is essential to national security after a gunman tried to storm the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner on Saturday.

Graham and his allies say the cost of this project would be offset by national park user fees and customs fees, and that the bill would authorize the construction of national security-related infrastructure below the ballroom, including an annex for the Secret Service."

It's up to $1 billion now. Why not make it $1.5 billion?

Once touted as privately funded, Republicans sneak in taxpayer cash for Trump's ballroom project

The project was previously touted by the Trump administration as being completely privately funded

"Senate Republicans tucked an eye-popping figure into funding for security measures tied to President Donald Trump's ballroom, a project the administration once touted as being completely privately funded.

The GOP released legislation for its immigration enforcement-focused reconciliation package late Monday night, setting the total spending at $72 billion. But it also included $1 billion in taxpayer funding for security enhancements related to the ballroom addition to the White House.

Republicans had largely kept an arm’s length distance from the project, which Trump first announced last year. The construction drew criticism over the demolition of the East Wing and the flow of outside funding, which the administration has touted as a win for taxpayers."
