Absolutely no reason to blame the members, although some of the members are acting irrational.

You also have to remember the NLRB can file labor charges against these buyouts as well because it’s most likely considered direct dealing.

Even if the union didn’t want them to this is still most likely illegal.

Anyone that signed that current agreement would be obligated because of the way UPS wrote it to return the money. This is pure evil on the company part. They were well aware. There was a very strong chance. This was all going to happen and they wanted to cover their butt and get their money back.

Whether or not people would get their jobs back would depend on the legal proceedings and who knows how long any of that could take.

I agree there probably should’ve been better language on this, but if you would’ve asked me a year ago, if these buyouts would be possible I would’ve said no so it’s hard for me to blame the Union for not thinking of this would happen although that is their job. Currently, they’re doing what they can. All be it probably not explaining this as well as they should be able to

The auto makers had buyout language in there most recent contract

Please don't consider me an apologist for the company. And I'm not suggesting buyouts should be allowed without bargaining.

It's just the fragmentation is killing the spirit of unity for this thing. Which UPS is leaning into as hard as they absolutely can.

The union has not done a good job of PR management for this so far imo.

100% this is a win for the company no matter what happens.

My personal opinion is, they’re trying to destroy the union through weakening solidarity as much as possible brick by brick.

This company is very good at long-term plans and I believe they have a plan. That plan. It’s not a good plan for us.

I agree with this 100%.

The company did not bargain in good faith, last contract, and they intend to kill the union.

That company is rat poison.

According to that letter, Carol cares about inconveniencing our families maybe they’ll get me off the clock at a decent time today so I can actually see them?

I seemed to find that if you bitched and moaned about too much work they buried you, but if you told them you need more work you just bought a new boat and wanted the OT they would barely give you 8. And never, ever tell them you need off early as possible for your kids ballgame they would even bone you on an 8 hour request for that one.

And that’s that….

Perhaps.

Unfortunately….

Us retired guys can only speculate.

Can’t vote anymore.

But…. The President of my Local still sits on the Executive Board of the IBT.

😂

I agree with this 100%.

Can you blame them for trying? They see FedEx and Amazon have been doing it for years, saving billions in labor cost's. It's a different generation now unfortunately when it comes to organized labor.

It used to be that way. Now they give everyone an over 10 hour plan lol. (which by using their fake numbers means probably closer to 11 hours.)

For the record, I don’t complain at all. I don’t care either way. I’ll take their money. Especially if they’re gonna pay me over $160 an hour. Make me rich I don’t Care. But don’t you dare mention my family and pretend you care one bit.

Fuck you! All us retirees are going to strike your ass! You'll be stuck with @gumby that punk would cross the picket line.

Well I had been out of package for a long time so I'm sure they caught on to the reverse psychology.

The Union grieved it…. And still in arbitration ?

That monies already in the bank zero chance of getting it back. Arbitration is just Sean throwing shit at the wall and see what sticks

FU too good buddy.

Absolutely Carol is and has been 2 or 3 moves in front of SOB

Absolutely although in fairness, if you’re not a complete scumbag, it’s hard to think like a scumbag.

Also, if you refuse to play it by the rules, it’s easy to be to 2 moves ahead because you just make your own rules up.

Absolutely corporations will not be satisfied until the middle class is completely squeezed out of good wages, healthcare that gives your family, peace of mind and actual care, and guaranteed retirement with dignity,

At some point, maybe the sheep will wake up and realized they’re being led to the slaughter 🤷‍♂️

Or maybe not

The company only hates us because we have those things and even their own management doesn’t.
