Vacations owed retire/ buy out

Just letting others know that get involved with the union and company if you decide to retire before you use your vacations. I have about 5 weeks I’m owed but now I’m off the books and already did my withdrawal card. I cant even get a call back from the steward on the issue. I was told by my manager he would get with labor to do the pay off. I didn’t do the buyout but others are so something to look out for . Just a FYI

Nobody here has had an issue with it.
They are usually paid off with in 2 weeks

I waited a month. Let them know I wasn’t paid. Get the I’ll call you later. Now no reply. I imagine to late going on over two months. Our BA old BA left so don’t know the new one.

You're welcome

Your last manager has to submit it here so if it's the same there he's screwing you.

You're welcome

He was taking to me!!! Lol

He was taking to me!!! Lol

I know
Im just being me
Congratulations on your retirement

Surprised they didn’t pay you out just before your last day. One driver that I know retired at the end of last year was paid out his 2025 vacations prior to getting his first pension check on January 1.

I’m still waiting on an answer back just no one seems to want to. I doubt I can do anything so it’s up to them???

They have to payoff your earned vacations. Yes, it sucks to have to wait on them.

The Union should also step in and help. Yes, you're retired, but you did not get all your benefits afforded to you while you were working under the collective bargaining agreement. My Local would be all over this.

It sucks that the BA will not call you back. I would try and get in touch with the Principal Officer of the Local.

If not, management just has to turn it in. Keep calling your manager and keep pestering him to get it turned in.

Good luck on the retirement. Spend time with the family and remember, continue to keep the beer drinking to a reasonable level.

i messaged my supervisor last week. Said he check with the manager when back from vacation. My steward did contact me so we will see what the supervisor says this week. We have a new BA now so I don’t know him. The old one I could just call anytime and he be right on it. Thanks on the advice Retirement is a dream come true!!!!

I did contact our union president today. He had my new BA contact me and he then emailed the labor manager. My supervisor just called about it. So looks like it’s getting taken care of. So all looks good.

Glad to hear it. You owe me a beer, but you're welcome to drink it for me.

If that’s the case I’m getting 2!!!

The company has been extremely difficult to deal with on these issues after retirement., I would advise people to use every vacation they have before they leave.

Definitely squeaky wheel gets the grease here. We currently have a couple people who retired that still haven’t been paid their vacations although the company has agreed to there hasn’t been any checks cut yet.

Yeah, that's quite other way.People don't get paid off

That could cost you almost $10K or more though.

Retire on the 31st. Pension check comes on the 1st and then you also get paid off for 7 weeks of vacation.
If you take your 7 weeks of vacation, you won't get a pension check for 2 months.

I think the gamble is worth it because they legally have to pay you off. It might just take some time and effort on your part.

Looks like @mechanicinblue got it done.

I’m sure they’ll pay it but for whatever reason it’s like pulling eye teeth now. Used to be automatic. Definitely worth it though you’re right.
