Buyout

Yes, and grieved under Article 6 NM, and filed NLRB charges as well.

This time we filed under Article 19, section 10 of the Central Region Supplement.

....and apparently hit paydirt this time.

Why make the same argument twice?

Better to hedge your bets.

It’s odd that we have article 6, but also still have bonus centers.

It’s odd that we have article 6, but also still have bonus centers.

Probably not that odd. The union does not recognize bonus as legitimate because we don’t recognize UPS’s fake numbers.

I do not know how long article 6 in the master or article 19 section 10 in the central has been in the contract. I’m going to guess it was written after bonus was implemented to combat any future attempts at extra contract agreement.

I wish I would have saved all my contract books. Could have told you exactly when that language was implemented.

But, that’s exactly what that language was for.... to combat random “bonus” type programs without negotiating.

Respect is earned. Ignorance is given freely.

This is an anonymous forum bro, unless you guys are hanging out at the rest stops, not judging.

Seems like it would’ve eliminated bonus if the article was added later. And definitely should’ve prevented it if already in place. I know there were bonus centers as far back as the 1960s.

I hate bonus. Turns half of our drivers into these weird little entitled babies. And most of them can’t distinguish between the eight hour guarantee and bonus. They think they are the same thing.

What’s the play going forward for the Central if this is about negotiating? Do they think they will get more money?

It’s anonymous to you perhaps, but not so anonymous to others. Some people on this website and the previous website they were part of have a history of giving good information and are a known quantity. Perhaps you’re not one of those people.

Whether we like it or not, the union is reactionary. The company has a lot more resources to higher lawyers and consultants to try and figure out ways to get around contracts or to even morally wound the union. They definitely play the Long game.If you hate bonus, you see what the long game has done. I’m grateful the union is putting up a fight here.

The play going forward is exactly what the union has been telling you. They are not necessarily against the company offering this money, but without sitting down and discussing the matter and making sure it’s done fairly and contractually and not secretively they are against it. The company likes to pretend the union is not the sole negotiator for the bargain unit. Even though they signed off that they were.

And yet no one can qualify who you are? Or your previous history probably because you don’t want us to.

But hey, welcome anyway

Okay???

I was just pointing out that the language he quoted was not from our CBA, rather the bogus buyout offer.

I like him too and assume he didn't read the verbiage in the screenshot.

I just want my damn 150k and don't care who gets screwed over (me included) in the process!

Says Every UPSers Redditor poster currently.

Almost makes you wonder how many of these posters are purposely placed by the company to create chaos?

I joined, under a different username, the same year the site first went live. And no one (on BC or in the various buildings I worked in) ever figured out who I was or where exactly I worked other than what state. And they only knew the state because I volunteered that information. I honestly don’t know why I have tried to stay anonymous. I’ve never really had anything to hide.🤷‍♂️

Actually, I just remembered. “Scratch“ and maybe one other person on BC were my “friends“ on Facebook when I still had it. But that was a while back.

I think in the end, right or wrong, it’ll end up just being procedural theatrics. But at least they are trying. It’s definitely a “it’s the principle of the matter” situation since they likely don’t have a problem with the actual buyout.

I remember you from BC Alwasys seem like a reasonable poster.

By known quantity don’t necessarily mean people know people personally here. Certainly there are people here who know each other though outside of this website or the previous one.

But people overtime can give good information that others know they can trust and verify and at least they’re not Trolls

@1030 is a strong union guy. I’d feel proud to have him or @thebrownblob as my steward

Thanks dude. @bubblehead & @thebrownblob are way more knowledgeable about union stuff than me. I stumbled upon brown cafe early in my career and some of the discussions these guys were having over there really sparked my interest in the union. Hopefully we can grow this community now and it will have the same effect on someone else.

I honestly don't know why the company didn't negotiate this with the union.

Perhaps, but I do believe the union has caught a wiff of UPS’s ultimate goal. And yes, I agree the same people complaining about not getting a buyout are the same people that complain and say the union never does anything. Which is also patently false. Even though we have a great contract and in my opinion, a great union we are still playing against the house every time.

I belive UPS corporate is coming after our way of life. Now is the time to fight them, not each other.
