Buyout

A lot more than that.

Back in the early 90's I remember someone saying it was equal to an additional $10 an hour. Can't imagine what it is now.

Probably 60m a year if not more.

Probably 60m a year if not more.

And to think some guys with less than a decade at this job just gave it away for 150k

Best of luck to them. I know how much my pension and retiree health care is worth

So, there was a table....how many chairs were there?

For a BA, you don't know very much, do you?

No chairs, only booths.

They were at the all you can eat buffet at the Golden Corral.

Maybe you have bad information?

Let's look at the facts.

You even admitted that your PO did not see the MOU. @brownblob said the same thing. Apparently, this other local PO did not receive any communication either. Yes, this was second hand, from a driver I know down there, but apparently confirmed by at least you and @brownblob

The Union National Negotiating Committee came to an agreement with UPS on the buyouts on April 5.

The local unions answer to the members. Most drivers who were denied the buyout reached out to their BA and asked why junior drivers got it over them. You would think, that the International would give the information to the locals so that they could respond to the members questions correctly instead of just saying "sorry, I haven't seen the MOU and I can't tell you anything.

These drivers had to find out from UPS, or social media, that UPS did not go by building seniority, that they went by center seniority and feeder seniority separately. The locals should have been able to tell the drivers this. They should have been informed how the buyout seniority was negotiated, without having to call someone and find out.

You still following? I know you had a little trouble before.

If the International did negotiate the buyout to go by center and feeder seniority separately, own it and tell the locals so that @gumby knows who screwed him.

If the question is who screwed any member it’s 100% UPS. This was their stupid idea.

They decided to negotiate with the members outside of their contractual obligation to negotiate with the union.

Yes, I would definitely like more information from our side, but at the end of the day, they were just trying to fix an an impossibly broken situation that they didn’t create.

At least give me a turkey

Does this surprise you?

No, it doesn’t but what does surprise me Is that some of the members even from the beginning we’re against the union here..

The company blindsided the union with this purposely to create this kind of issue between the membership and the Union.

Somehow, they get off Scott free looking like heroes trying to give people 150 K as if it’s because they love them when we know for a fact it’s because this helps UPS much more than it does the person getting 150 K

My local submitted an information request to the Company for the names of the drivers who applied and those who were accepted.

Until they get that information, I doubt they are interested in what someone has accertained from social media or hearsay.

Is that not true, buffet boy?

No, but they should have been interested in what the agreement actually was before they even look at a list.

What good does a list do if they do not know how the Union negotiated this "seniority order."

Step 1. Find out from the International the specifics of the agreement.

Step 2. Check seniority to make sure UPS agreed to the terms of the agreement.

But I get it, request the list now to get a jump start on it.

Did your local request the agreement from the International?

I get it. The Union was also between a rock and a hard place. They had to do the best they could, because they were seeing the writing on the wall that they were going to lose in Arbitration next month, so they had to try and salvage anything they could now.

But the bottom line is that the Union agreed to this instead of continuing to fight until the end, like the good old days.

So they are both culpable.

Somehow, they get off Scott free looking like heroes trying to give people 150 K as if it’s because they love them when we know for a fact it’s because this helps UPS much more than it does the person getting 150 K

UPS does nothing unless they benefit from it.

We all know that the buyout was not from the goodness of their hearts. It was because they had something to gain, either now or in the future.

I’m not so certain they would’ve lost. And I am certain the central region would’ve been deadlocked.

The company knew what they were doing was inappropriate they didn’t care and they also knew it would be very hard for the union to explain there position to its members. So fighting to the end was going to be difficult for the union because the company is playing a game.

Sure, a group of guys are gonna get $150,000 but the people left behind quite possibly we’re going to get the shaft. That would be a dereliction. of the unions duty to not do something about it.

Our local president is telling everybody here that he has not seen the MOU or a list of who applied and who was accepted, so he doesn't know any of that.

Wait, what?

Are we talking in the third person here?

I'm not following.

Well we know that’s bullshit ain’t no way those Union guys are eating at Golden Corral.
