The UPS Teamsters Strike Fund

We have a driver who took the buyout and is leaving next week. They've been writing him up for the pettiest shit for the past couple months. And he doesn't call in, isn't on 9.5, isn't a whiner. Nobody has any idea why. They're just being dicks.

Trying to get him fired so he cant collect?

I'm not sure. They're so unbelievably petty it's hard to see how any of them would get him fired unless he didn't file grievances. They're also not going after the other five drivers that are leaving next week with him. He is also a hard worker, will help others when asked, a straight shooter, military veteran, and generally a very easy guy to talk to.

An example of his last write up. He was delivering on a residential street with two stops on it. Left the first one, pulled from the curb, used his signal. Going down about six houses he pulls to the curb and puts his flashers on when coming to the house and honks. Gets a warning letter for not using his right turn signal before using his flashers.

They are throwing shit at the wall, trying to terminate people. Five people terminated in the last month every single one of them got their job back. Some of them got backpay. The company doesn’t care they will continue to harass people take them out of service.

Thats juat pure harassment.

This company will never get it. If you treat people like human beings most will respond positively. Then they just have to deal with the ones not doing the job.

Maybe? But Is that even something they can do anymore since they’ve made an agreement with the Union?

Nonsense, the beatings will continue until moral improves!!!

Trying to remember what the exact wording was. But I do believe if you get terminated you don't get the money.

Thankfully im safe.

How long can the Teamsters hold out with the current strike fund before they run out? I’m sure dues will come out of strike fund checks too.

Either won't last more than three weeks tops. Who wins by the end of three weeks is yet to be determined. Will enough cross or will the Union run out of money?

You might have a harder time getting the part-timers to go back to work after they’ve been making strike pay!

If it's anything like the old days the hardest thing to do was to get the part-timers too vote strike.

Nothing new-----I don't know any of my old gang from the 70's 80's, 90's (me included) who wasn't fired at least once. WE had a union steward who was fired at least 3 times.

Nope, not necessarily New but every generation of teamsters at UPS has had to stand up to the company and show them they mean business. Not necessarily because they wanted to, but because the company gave them no choice.

But we had the balls to strike-----twice-----and with only like $55 a week strike pay -which we had to turn around and give back plus more to keep our medical insurance active. There is a BIG difference between talking strike and doing it.

And a big difference having balls to do it for $55 a week(which like you said we never got it anyway)and what they have to pay these pussies now to even get them to strike. Strike fund=pussy pay.

But how can they make the payment on their 75k truck?

Yep, and I was there for two of the strikes. Depending on what the company does in the next 12-15 months, it might be time to put up or shut up very soon. I know I’m ready for my third. Hopefully with the enhanced strike benefit, the younger generation will be ready for their first if necessary.

So, you think the majority of UPSers (part-timers) would not honor a strike in the short term for $1,000 a week and continued TeamCare benefits while honoring the picket lines?

I tend to believe they would.

I highly doubt part timers will get $1000 a week during a strike. I'm skeptical full timers will.
