Beginning of the end....sorry @gumby you're denied!

Probably just the beginning. The company is more than welcome to sit down and negotiate with the union to administer these contractually and fairly.

They will probably just drop the whole thing, start laying people off and like you said we've all been there.

Central region buyout appears to be at the very least on hold if not completely canceled.

I saw a letter yesterday (cant find it now, of course...). It was from the Teamsters to all Central locals saying UPS had canceled the Buyout for all the Central. Apparently, the Teamsters had everyone in the local file greivances, and UPS decided it wasnt worth it to continue offering it in the Central.

Man, gonna be a lot of people pissed at the Union. The people who wont get the buyout, AND the less senior people who will now get laid off instead of moving up the ladder.

Just FYI, I have no idea if this is true, or some AI fake. Maybe someone could post that letter.

If the union filed grievances and the company knew they were going to do things against the contract, why would members be upset? I can guarantee members would be more upset that the union didn’t stop it once they found out the company was going to do as they pleased and not full contract, contractual, obligations, and seniority. again, the company knows they’re dirty here they wouldn’t have pulled these otherwise that’s what contracts are for.

Be kinda funny if all the ones who filed on it are ones who really couldn't leave because not enough time in for pension benefits, then they all get laid off.

To my understanding, it was the locals that filed Et All grievances once it became clear the central had language against it, and with discovered the company was not going to honor, contractual, seniority, in locals.

Layoffs are a common issues throughout the history of UPS. We have language that takes care of that and your seniority will eventually allow you not to be laid off.

Just like the old saying seniority sucks and we don’t have any.

The Covid years made low seniority. People think they would never be laid off. That’s just not the case.

The people in other locals will be really pissed when it ends up they won't get a buyout either. If the union forces UPS to follow the contract and seniority then UPS will be forced to apply the settlement nationwide.

I know a few guys in my old building who will likely drop out of the Union over this. They're mad as hell because two shop stewards(stuarts)took the last one and left.
